Works great for 'sweet itch'-try lotion for tails
I've used this supplement to help both one TB mare and my kids' Shetland mare who have sweet itch--i.e., reactivity to gnats/midges, that especially shows up along the midline. I'm in FL and it gets too hot even to use fly sheets, so this is a great solution. It didn't seem to do too much for itchy tails, perhaps because there's less circulation there? I had good luck with the BBI lotion for tails.

Didn't Work
I bought this on clearance, used the whole tub faithfully on just one horse. No change. Never stopped the itch, and she has rubbed her tail hair completely off.

Not that great
I don’t see any results. My poor horse is rubbing the hairs off the top of his tail as much as ever. My vet told me that he is allergic to gnat bites. The medicine I got from the vet didn’t work so I tried Bye Bye Itch. Very expensive and very disappointing.

My Irish Sport Horse Cured
I started my Irish sport horse on this product a month before it started getting warm here in upstate New York. It is now August and he has not lost ANY hair and is completely comfortable. I do not know if my extreme success with him is entirely due to this product, but there is no doubt that it was a contributing factor in his health this year. On top of adding this product to my horse’s diet I did a few things: I NEVER had him outside at dusk and dawn, he had a fan on indoors, outside he had a run in shed to have relief, he was groomed every day often using Equiderma horse lotion (amazing stuff), i did spot fly treatments down his mane and at the top of his tail as well as the upper inside of his legs every 2 weeks, and he was always turned out on the highest point of the farm to avoid dampness. Any sweet itch horse owner knows that even all of that effort does not do the trick for sweet itch, and that is why I know the product helped my horse somehow.

Excellent Addition
Works great for skin irritation & keeping coats healthy. A bit on the expensive side given the amount required.

I was skeptical when I ordered the Bye Bye Itch, but was desperate, as the gnats were chewing on my horse and he was scratching himself raw. I am in Florida and we have not had a break from the heat or bugs. At first I did not think it was working, but about 1/2 through the container I noticed he was not so raw and his skin was healing.
On the con side he does not really like and getting him to eat it is difficult. I have found mixing with his soaked beet pulp is the best way because he cannot pick it out.

No results and he hates it.
I had high hopes for this stuff because I was using just Smartpak's flax supplement and thought this might be even better but my mini's skin from his allergies to so many things, including all grass hay, only got worse. He eats everything in sight (his vacuuming up any toxic leaves that blow into his paddock makes me the craziest) until I put this powder in his bucket...then only a warm mash gets it into him. So...proceed with caution.

Verdict still out
We are into our 3rd tub at 3 scoops a day. I'm not sure it helps. My Mustang has been on allergy shots for about 3 years. Normally, in the Spring, he gets so itchy he rubs sores on his withers, neck and butt. I thought the product was helping as he was less itchy and it was recently, this August before he got any open sores from itching this year. So, I can't really tell if the allergy shots were working better or if the BBI helped March - July... I'll keep using it at least the rest of the summer and see what I think. Since allergies are an immunity deficiency, I don't expect products to "cure" it. Im just willing to try about anything to lesson the itching.

We love this product
Our horse has an extreme reaction to midge bites and we have spent 4 years and many, many $ on tests, injections, fly sheets etc. This product has brought him the most relief he has ever had. We are so pleased.
