They’re made from a soft, fine mesh that is lightweight and allows for maximum airflow. Last but not least, they have sturdy hook and loop closures to keep them in place. Mixed results!
I have had inconsistent results with these. The very first set I bought lasted a long time, but the four I bought at the end of last year are already sagging after about a month’s use- and before they started to sag I ordered four for my daughters new mare. I noticed her new ones are starting to sag, too. It’s almost like the metal that is supposed to hold them straight gets bent, and I cannot unbend it to make it straight? It’s odd! The very old set I have didn’t have this issue, but simply wore out after a season of use. I am the only one at our eventing barn with this brand, and the other options seem to be holding up better, so sadly I’ll be ordering something else for our horses.

Very cheaply made
So disappointed with this product! Total waste of money. I bought two pairs, and first pair came completely unraveled when peeling apart the Velcro. Thought that was odd, so started using the second pair, a few days later the same exact thing…ripped entirely off as if it’s hardly stitched on! What a joke

Closed tops, and reinforced bindings.
Been using for two summers now and I do like them, especially on the hind legs because the tops are closed and manure does not drop down inside like it does on the open top style. They also work better on the hind legs because they are more resistant to wearing out from brushing together, which the ShooFly brand do so quickly on the hind legs. So I have started using ShooFly on fronts and SmartPak on hinds. It working great and all boots are lasting longer. I have seven horses in this set-up, all horse size. I do NOT recommend the pony sizes because they do not stay up on my babies. However, horse sizes work well.

Starting to sag
I bought this less than a month ago and they boots are already starting to sag. They don’t have the hard plastic shims like other fly boots which means they don’t stay up as well.

Didn't last
I bought these less than 2 months ago and they are already collapsing and falling down. Was hoping they would last at least one summer but I'm going to have to throw out and order another pair. I wouldn't waste your money on these. Spend a little more if necessary to get a pair that will last. Horse equipment is too expensive, especially if you have to replace after such a short time.

Nice product!
Sheet 6 wks, I really like these boots as they are lightweight and prevent rubbing. They stay in place well and my house seems comfortable! The velcro is phenomenal and they wash easily. Currently, i have these on the front legs only as on the back, my horse tends to pull them off somehow. I have him wear a different brand on the back, yet the other fly boots that are tighter and restrict air flow tend to cause rubbing or irritation when he poops.
I'm buying another pair of these relaxed fly fit boots in a color I can find in his pasture if he pulls then off.

Didn’t Last!
Despite the so-so reviews I thought I’d give these a try as SmartPak brand merchandise doesn’t usually let me down. I don’t usually leave reviews but I had to on these, because these didn’t even last 2 months, without daily use even. The stitching is already coming out on multiple boots and the elastic is already stretched out and the boots falling down. I bought 4 sets, 2 sets for 2 different horses and for how expensive it was to get 4 sets, I’m definitely disappointed in these boots. My older guy gets his sillies out first thing then eats and naps the rest of the day. My pony does nothing but eat so they aren’t hard on these in any way shape or form, yet they still didn’t last. SmartPak needs to go back to the drawing board on these. Concept is great, but execution needs improvement.

My favorite fly boots!!!
I love the fit of these boots - relaxed just enough to be comfy, no rubs at the top or bottom, and they stay up just fine! Plus, these really stay on!!!! The Velcro is super strong! We find Shoo Fly boots laying in the pasture all the time, but not these!!! I bought cob size for my petite TB mare’s front legs and they work so well that I just ordered horse size for her hinds.

Good boots on OTTB
The good: The sizing is generous; I originally bought the oversized for my 17hh OTTB but they were too long so I exchanged for the standard horse size. Fit great, sturdy velcro, attractive and effective against stomping. Also, same size for all 4 legs.
The bad: My horse enjoys his own fashion sense and insists on pulling 1 or 2 boots off. So he walks around with hind boots and/or 3 boots while I look for the missing front boot. But he hasn't damaged the boots yet!
