Your horse was designed to consume small amounts of forage throughout the day, so his stomach produces acid 24/7. In a natural grazing situation, where a horse is chewing and swallowing consistently, his gastric acid is buffered by forage and saliva. Research
In a university-led research study, SmartGut Ultra was shown to support stomach health in horses after omeprazole was administered for the treatment of non-glandular gastric ulcers. It aided in the protection of the stomach from rebound acid effects after the omeprazole treatment was discontinued by lowering gastric pH, which resulted in lower non-glandular gastric ulcer scores.
