SmartPaker's Choice: SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free

My horse Nemo and I have been together for almost 13 years. During that time, he’s grown up from a green 7-year-old, learning balance and where to put his very long legs, all the way to a solid 19-year-old who knows his job and loves to do it. Between all that time, we’ve had many adventures including trail riders, pleasure shows, eventing adventures, hunter paces, dressage, and many a bareback hack through the woods or fields.

Knowing that he loves to be active and is happiest when he's in work, I’ve always been very careful to keep his supplement program tailored exactly to what his needs may be at any given time. Most recently, I’ve chosen to update his supplement program to include SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free Pellets for joint support supplement, and I'm looking forward to seeing it help keep him comfortable, strong, and happy into his 20s.

Over the years, Nemo has been on several different joint supplements, all within the SmartFlex® line. I love how thoughtfully developed and comprehensive these supplements are, and SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free is no different. I love looking at ingredients lists and really liked that this formula provides glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid, and MSM, so I know as a rider and horse owner that I’m helping to support healthy joints from a well-rounded and thoughtful approach.

I also love that it has some ingredients specific to an aging horse, such as amino acid phenylalanine, which helps to address stiffness and discomfort, as well as vitamin C and super oxide dismutase which help support a healthy immune system. I learned that as a horse ages, they’re often not able to produce vitamin C internally as they were years earlier, and knowing that immune and digestive health are so closely intertwined, I'm so happy knowing that Nemo is getting that added support. Plus, Nemo loves it because it’s a tasty pellet!

Another reason I chose this supplement is that its formula is completely herb-free. A lot of times senior horses are still going strong (Nemo included!), and that might include horse showing or competing where herbal supplements are not to be used per the show association rule book. Using the Herb-Free SmartFlex formula means I’m able to give Nemo a solid option for supporting his joints and health, without compromising any fun competition adventures we have planned.

I’ve had so much fun with Nemo over the last almost 13 years and am looking forward to what the next many years will bring. I know that using SmartFlex Senior Herb-Free Pellets for him will absolutely help keep him happy, comfy, supported, and ready for an adventure together. And, I’m very excited for that!
