Recipe: Homemade Carrot and Oat Treats
Posted on: May 05, 2017 by Marisa Ciccarello
It has been such a cold and snowy winter here in Massachusetts for the past few months. I look for any excuse to fire up my oven. Prior to visiting my horse Bug last weekend I decided to make her a batch of fresh horse treats to snack on, in hopes of lessening the winter blues for her and warm my house up a bit! These were so easy and fun to make!
Ingredients:
1 cup Oatmeal
1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup Molasses
1 cup of chopped carrots
3 tsp flax seed oil
¼ cup brown Sugar
½ cup warm water

Directions:
- First Pre-Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Gather all of you necessary ingredients.
- Begin by chopping carrots into small pieces. (The horses don’t mind if they’re not perfect!)
- Next mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
-
Add the wet ingredients and mix well. The mixture should be sticky and able to form into balls.
-
Use a scoop or spoon to place on a lined cookie sheet. The treats will not expand but it is important that they do not touch or they will bake together.
-
Bake for 30-35 mins. If you would like softer treats bake for 30 mins, for crunchier treats bake for 35 mins.
-
Ta-Da! You just made your pony homemade cookies!
