I bought two of these halters - one in havana/cob size for my 8yo, 15hh QH mare who always wears cob size, and one in chestnut/horse for my 17yo 15hh QH who is much larger-featured and usually wears a horse size. The cob size fit my 8yo perfectly - BUT it is on the tightest hole everywhere. I am keeping it and hoping it won’t stretch too much. The horse size, however, was huge on my 17yo mare. I was disappointed to find that they are no longer stocking the chestnut color in cob size, so I returned it and opted for an exchange for a black one to keep my girls’ halters different from one another (I have not yet received the replacement). Now - I bought these during a sale, with a $15 gift card, and I am a SmartPerks member, so they were about $60 each. PLUS, I got a $50 gift card, so I sort of looked at it as getting them for about $35/each (horse girl math). For that price, they are superb quality! I love USA made products, I will only buy halters with solid brass hardware, and appreciate the adjustable chin, double buckle crown, and throat snap. While the leather is nice (and certainly nicer than a lot), it is not the softest out-of-the-box leather I’ve ever had. I’ve conditioned it a few times and it’s getting softer. I think I would be a little disappointed if I would have paid full price. The color also runs a bit, so if that’s something that bothers you…keep that in mind. With all that being said, it looks beautiful. I do feel like I got a fabulous deal at the price I paid - but I’d suggest waiting for a sale! If you are a true leather snob, you might want to look at Walsh.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MG92 from Not the same as they used to be Sad to say I’m a bit disappointed. I bought this same halter in 2018 and when it arrived it was buttery soft and beautiful. The halter that arrived today is pretty, but stiff and shiny/smooth. I’m not sure if I should try to oil it and see what happens or if I should return it. I absolutely loved the first one that I got, so I’m super sad.

I love the triple-stitch detailing that is simple yet adds a little bit of extra style to it! My mare wears this halter everywhere and it holds up great all around. It’s super easy to clean with some leather soap and conditioner which also really helps bring out the color and makes it even more soft and supple! I went with a horse size for my warmblood, and it fit perfectly!
