Best Training Aid For Beginner Riders
Rubber reins are popular among riding instructors because they provide a sure grip for all riders. Rubber rainbow reins are popular among riding instructors because they provide a great visual for beginning riders.
My Granddaughter is 4 years old and she just started riding on her own. Her instructor had tied knots in her leather reins so that she knew exactly the correct rein length while riding. That was fine while she was just walking, but her rein length need to change with every gait and maneuver she was practicing. That's where the idea of the Kincade Rainbow Reins came into play. I ordered them and her learning progressed. My granddaughter loves the alternating bright colors on the reins. All her instructor has to do was tell her what color she should be holding with her hands. She isn't bound to one length like with the knots in her reins. I was also very pleasantly surprised at the high quality of these reins!
This was exactly what I was looking for to help teach my granddaughter where she should hold on to the reins! Every beginner regardless of age should use these amazing Kincade Rainbow Reins!

Exactly what we needed
I have used rainbow reins in the past in my lesson programs but found them to be too bulky. These ones are thing enough that the students can still learn some feel and finesse, while still having it easy to communicate where to put their hands and ensure even reins!

Great quality!
Great they come in longer version; I bought the 54” Darker leather than pictured so I took off one star.

Great for Lesson Students
I love using these reins to help my lesson students, because I can tell them exactly where to hold on the reins and they don't slip through their fingers as easily as rubber or cotton reins usually do! So much clearer to tell them to hold on a certain color than to constantly tell them to tighten their reins more.
The only issue I have with these is why would you put non-traditional colors on them? For use in therapy, it's very hard to say "hold on the tealy turquoisey almost green pastel" or "hold on the navy blue possibly purple possibly black" -- we have to define these as green and blue to our students, and many of them think the light green color is blue. With students with autism or other disabilities, it can be hard to get them to understand which color is which for us. That's the only issue we have run into with these reins. I wish that they were the other way around, so that the red and yellow would be the most likely color for students to hold on.

Nice
They are nice reins. They are currently stiff and stick up in the kids' faces when riding the pony, but I assume they will break in and flop to the side eventually.

cute but needed a good oil
These are perfect schooling reins. I had to soak them for a while in oil. And I cut the leather off as I could not get them attached to the bit. That extra flap of leather got in the way.

Good reins especially for the price
I purchased these for a student. She needed the visual to help her understand when her twins where uneven. The reins stops between colors also gives her a tactical feel, the rubber assists the student into not allowing the reins to slip through her fingers. She also enjoys the pastel colors

Fair price
Decent reins for a fair price. Very hard to buckle at bit end, will need lots of oil. Also, the shape is a little deformed due to the way they were folded in package. Hopefully that will straighten in time. Otherwise, decent reins for a fair price!
