Ecovet, available in a fresh scent, is a new alternative to traditional fly products containing pyrethrins or essential oils. Research has shown that certain fatty acids act as insect attractants, while others are repellents. Ecovet uses a proprietary mixture of naturally occurring fatty acids that confuses and overwhelms the insect’s normal directional ability, so the insect is unable to locate your horse as its next victim. Simply The Best
I’ve actively tried as many flu sprays as I can acquire, and I always go back to this. It’s not loaded with harsh chemicals, and having a grey horse with melanomas, I like to use as natural of products as I can without sacrificing efficacy. The smell is like a pungent perfume that dies down, but you really need to spray it out of the wind, etc. It uses natural fatty acids that literally make flies just drop or they land and fly away. But it is really pungent in an organic smelling way at first.

Caused me to have respiratory distress
I had high hopes for this spray. I have a sensitive horse who gets hives when the bugs are at the peak. Despite using it as directed, out in an open well ventilated area I had a bad reaction resulting in bronchospasm. I even tried wearing a mask. My horse also sneezed and protested. Disappointed, but I did manage to find good results with the Smartpak brand.

Works well, but can't get past the SMELL
Everyone HATES the smell of this. The horses all sneeze and curl their lips--not just the horse being sprayed. Every horse in smelling distance. People even comment when we ride by. It's awful. It does work, but we like our barn mates and can't continue to use this if we want to keep them as friends.

Don’t waste your money or your lungs
I bought this a few days ago, I use this product and still see flies on my mare. I sprayed it on her and her fly boots before a ride, when I came back the boots had flies on them, chilling. I sprayed her down before turn out, and when I put her in the pasture, she had a fly or two on her. Still had a good bit of flies on her face throughout the day. I don’t think product is worth it for this price point. Still seeing flies on her and her things with use.

Works but not as long as I’d like for the price.
I’ve been using Ecovet for a couple of years now. One of my horses is particularly sensitive to chemicals. Ecovet is effective and he tolerates it well but it doesn’t last as long as the manufacturer says. I’m lucky to get 6 hours of effectiveness from it. The smell isn’t an issue but it will sting your eyes and your horses’ eyes. I sometimes wipe down their legs and faces with it sprayed on a soft rag to be able to get it somewhere on their faces and ears and to stop the overspray of their legs.

My horse has a negative reaction to it. He even blows and sneezes if we ride behind a horse that uses it. Extremely oily.

I regret this purchase
Sadly, I have to leave a negative review. I was thinking this would be a great option, despite the price, because my wonderful vet recommended it.
Now, I’m in a city with few boarding options. The best place for my horse has very poor manure management, which means many flies. I keep trying different sprays and had high hopes, but EcoVet didn’t last for 30 minutes. It has such an offensive smell, it makes my horse snort (and I hold my breath). It attracts a lot of dust.
My next purchase at the local TSC was for Bronco(e). Seems to be a much better option.

Works!!!
This works!! Gnats were all over my horse's face one day when I removed her mask. I rubbed some on her face and they were gone. I live in south Alabama. Gnats and noseeums are HORRIBLE. I had 2 growths removed. I rubbed this around the places and nothing has bothered them. Healed up fine. It doesn't smell the greatest but I have smelled alot worse. It makes my horse alot more comfortable and I don't have to spray everyday. So I can stand take the smell. She is allergic to biting bugs abd it makes her tail fall out. This stopped it along with the itch ease I have used all summer. Great products. Try a bottle.
