Carolyn Hammer, DVM, PhD
Dr. Carolyn Hammer is a veterinary health consultant and professor at North Dakota State University (NDSU). She has dedicated the past 20 years to horse owner education and equine research. Dr. Hammer is a graduate of Iowa State University, having earned degrees in Nutritional Physiology (MS), Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Animal Physiology (PhD).
A passionate educator, she has taught courses on horse management, nutrition and health as well as provided horse-owner workshops and seminars. At NDSU, Dr. Hammer has an active research program focused on equine health and performance including projects investigating nutritional supplements and alternative therapies, nutritional impacts during pregnancy, and basic immunology.
In addition, she has published over 40 refereed journal articles and book chapters and has provided numerous international, national, and state presentations.
